Now we are going to talk a bit about the book by Moses Maimonides called The Guide for the Perplexed. The main idea of the book was to illustrate that the point s of the author were rational and philosophical as well.
He tried to compare such issues as science, philosophy, faith and reasons. He wanted to show that those points did not oppose to each other but just covered various subjects. According to his works we could see that only some parts of the science had the connection to the faith. Maimonides illustrated two reasons according to which the conflict between science and faith could appear. One of the reasons was the wrong comprehension of the language nature in religion. The other reason is the wrong organization of faith problem’s solving.
Of course, there were someone who agreed with the statement proposed by Moses and they were happy to know that now it was stated on the paper. But some people were confused and offended by Moses work. As Maimonides found the support on the Aristotle’s works, many Jews could not agree that Aristotle could be accepted by Bible.
One of those who could not accept this work and believed was Joseph Ibn Aknin, the disciple of Moses. It goes without saying that this very work was devoted to him.
Even if the works were accepted differently, someone liked, someone felt arrogance, the books by Moses Maimonides were rather important and significant as for Jews and Muslims, as well for the Christians.
Moses wanted to unite faith and science and it became the ground for the works of different philosophers. One of such philosophers was St. Thomas Aquinas who tried to unite faith and reason, but he was also accepted not by everyone.
Well, nevertheless, the works of Moses Maimonides influenced a lot and made a great impact on the development of the theology and medicine in that period of time and could not stop to surprise us nowadays.
