He got command over guitar at an early age. After studying history and journalism at university in southern Mississippi he began sing in clubs in New Orleans. In 1969 Jimmy moved to Nashville and soon got good reputation as a songwriter. Buffett began his official musical career in Nashville during the late 1960s as a country artist, and recorded his first album, " Down to Earth" in 1970. Though it was a disappointing failure, but was a real confidence booster for Jimmy Buffett. Jimmy's second album " A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean" received moderate sales but is now acclaimed as his best album. According to estimation, the album sold over 238,600 copies in the first week of its release.
