Legacy of Colourful Culture - Arunachal Pradesh

The name ‘Arunachal Pradesh’ has been derived from a historical fort called ‘Itafort’ and is the land of the ‘Rising Sun’ and the land of the ‘Dawnlit Mountains’. It is also the home land of some 26 indigeneous tribes and twice the number of it are sub-tribes/groups. The tribes/sub-tribes of this beautiful land of ‘peace and serenity’ have unique and distinctive cultures, customs and tradtions of their own in general and dances in particular.

Popularly known as the “Island of Peace” in the North Eastern part of India, covers a geographical area of about 83,743 sq.km with a mountaineous terrain consisting of 16 districts. The people of Arunachal Pradesh takes pride in their age old traditions which does have a lot of impact upon their life-stile and day-to-day life. In this state, we get the major dances of different tribes in connection with their festivals; which always focuses their prosperity, progress, unity, rich cultural heritage and the threshold towards peace.

Arunachal Pradesh, the island where peace prevails is widely known for its potentials in natural resources and Hydel Power, forest based industries and tourism. The people from this small state of Indian union are developed in every aspect and spheres of life and mingles with the main stream of ‘Indian culture and tradition’.
