One more interesting work by Moses Maimonides is The Discourse on the Explanation of Fits. The creation of this very work was connected to the time when Moses treated people from Sultan’s palace and was written specially for the Sultan as the main health problem of the Sultan was just the fits. One more important fact as for the creation of that book was he fact that Maimonides was sick as well and that is why in his work he described in details not only the treatment, diets and possible symptoms, but he tried to point out all actions of the patient in order to make the fits easier. He described step by step the behavior and necessary treatment.
His last work was about the drugs, its types. In order to be more concrete he described about 405 different types of drugs. The work’s name is Glossary of Drug Names. The book gives the possible variations of the drug’s names in different countries in different languages. According to such book we can make a conclusion that he was aware not only about the medical terms and the theory, but that he was multilingual person. So, his abilities were great.
But the topics for his works were not only connected to the medicine. As many philosophers of that period he also tried to develop his own vision of this topic. He was interested in theology and he devoted much time to the developing of his ideas in that very field. So, Moses Maimonides was also popular thanks to his works in theology.
He was the author of the fourteen part code of Jewish Law named as Mishneh Torah. This work demonstrates us the rational capabilities of the author. He tried to give the concrete definition to the notions such as ‘specific and general law’, ‘figurative and literal law’. Moses described the styles, situations and categories of the law. Great place was given to analysis and reasons. On the pages of the first part the vision of theology issues of the author were proposed. The creation of that book longed more then ten years. Some of Jews agreed with the statements of the book, some of them extremely disagreed and, even more, they were offended. Maimonides thought that those who could not understand his standpoints were to far from the truth. They just could not see the essence of the faith.
