“The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.” - W.R. Wallace. Mothers are the embodiment of love. There is an old saying which says that “A man is what is mother makes him”. Mothers all over the world with their never-ending and selfless love protect their children from all evils and help them to grown up and become individuals who can take on the world.
The feeling of security that a child gets by being near to her mother is incomparable. She works round the clock throughout the year to satisfy and fulfill the needs and demands of her children without expecting anything in return. Mother’s day is a day celebrated to honor these great souls without whom life would be meaningless and would not exist in this world.
Mothers' Day is generally celebrated on the second Sunday in the month of May every year. It is day when mothers are honored and children express their love, respect and affection for their mothers by giving cards, gifts, and flowers.
Though the modern way of celebrating Mother’s day can be traced back to early 20th century United States, even ancient Greeks had days for honoring mothers. But the Greeks had those days to honor and pay homage to Rhea, the mother of the gods.
An annual celebration known as "Mothering Sunday" was also celebrated in the 1600s in England. This day was observed during lent when servants living with their employers were allowed to go home and honor their mothers. Several other countries also observe mother’s day but on different dates of the year. Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia, and Belgium are some of the countries which observe Mother’s day on the same date as that of United States.
Mother's Day is here and you have ample opportunities to thank her. Send touching token of your love and appreciation for your mother with e-greets and e-notes. She is the one woman in your life who has dedicated herself to your needs and cared for you. She's stood through thick and thin no matter what and her love is the only kind in the world that's unconditional.
