When the parents try to protect the child from evil it is not sure that their actions are not evil by its nature. The parents suppose to think that if there are some limitations for the child then his\her life would be better; and the child who has the opportunity to be exposed has more problems in the life. But, to tell the truth, even if the child would be under several protection it can not help to save him or her from hurt and suffering of our cruel world. But the child is also a human being that is why it is obvious to feel evil of the world.
Sometimes, there are such cases when the child is anguished to death or something in such nature. So, such actions are very difficult to explain. Everyone has its own point of view and there are different reasons for such situation that is why it is very hard to be objective in such situation.
Probably, such scientists as Mackie or Pojman are sure to prove that it is impossible the co-existence of God and evil, but here is my point of view. Such co-existence and even cooperation of good and evil (good is represented as God) is absolutely possible and even obvious. Even in such situation we should believe in omnipotent and good God. Probably you ask why then God permit the presence of evil in our lives, so there could be a lot of reasons for this. It is impossible to be sure about the circumstances under which God created evil in our world, but I know for sure that sometimes evil helps us to become stronger, wiser and more aware, so we can surely be called as human.
In our world it is very difficult to live looking only through pink glasses; sometimes it is useful to take them off and to se the world in all its beauty with all its advantages and disadvantages.
