Prison Break and the Wga Strike

Being on the fourth day of the WGA strike that seems to rock the entertainment industry in the United States , quite a number of shows have already weakened because of the loss of scripts to film. FOX recently removed 24 from their January schedule, thus implying that it might return late 2008, just about the time Lost gets aired. Shows that have already stopped production include Desperate Housewives, The Office, and Two and A Half Men, with Grey's Anatomy following shortly behind. A fan favorite, Prison Break is rescheduling their hiatus to a sooner date.



Previously, Prison Break announced that they will be taking a hiatus in December and will be back in April. However, due to the WGA strike, they will be taking a break after the next episode airing on November 12. "Bang and Burn," the last episode, will chronicle on Michael Scofield's escape plan, where Susan is totally in control. Mahone will appear in court, but will have to testify against others to save himself.



The next episode will be "Boxed In," which will launch five more episodes, will air on January 18, 2007. In case the strike gets resolved as soon as possible, then filming for the rest of season 3's episodes will resume. If not, however, the 13th episode will be the season ender of the rather short third installment of Prison Break.



New York Times reported that FOX already notified the Prison Break, The Unit and My Name Is Earl writers that their pay was suspended due to failure "to report to work and render their non-writing producing services."



Unfortunately, there still hasn’t been any conversation between the Writers Guild Association and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. The last strike in 1988 lasted over five months and cost the entertainment industry $500 million.
