The latest season of the Bravo network's competitive reality television series Project Runway introduces one of the youngest contestants in the history of the show – Christian Siriano, who is 21 years old. Though rather than be intimidated by his older counterparts, Siriano exudes an air of self-confidence, and has declared in his video for Bravo that he is brimming with raw talent. His accent seems to be a combination of valley girl slang and sassy buoyancy, reminiscent of Chris Crocker. Siriano has also conceded the fact that some may see him as just a mere novelty, but he doesn't believe that this should be something which will slow him down or hold him back in the competition.
He has also shown a certain degree of self-motivation and ambition, claiming that he decided to apply for Project Runway on his own, and that he is mainly influenced by himself and his own achievements. Some might consider this self-assurance and poise, while others would blast it for sheer arrogance and ego. But any notion that this is mere infantile hubris is quickly dispelled by the assessment of show mentor and fashion industry veteran Tim Gunn himself, who has described Siriano as a "fashion prodigy."
The young Siriano also already has a fair amount of experience, having worked under his favorite designer Alexander McQueen as well as Vivienne Westwood. Siriano was raised in the world of artistic design and creative occupations, and he previously began exerting effort in a salon when he was 13 years old. Amongst his earliest endeavors were designing costumes for hair shows, before he began to focus more attention on designing clothing while still attending high school. He departed from the United States to attend The American Intercontinental University located in London, and showcased a collection during the 2005 London Fashion Week.
