Rune Essence

It is obtained by mining in the essence mines, in free to play worlds. The mage in the Varrock magic shop or the wizard in the bottom floor of the Wizard Tower can teleport you there. It is significantly cheaper than pure essence which is mined by members because it can only be used to make runes that non-members are able to craft.

Pure Essence

This can be used to make any type of rune in the game. It is rune essence mined in member worlds. Along with nonmember locations, members can teleport their from the wizard in the northeast part of East Adrougne’s, the wizard in the magic guild, and a wizard in the Tree Gnome Stronghold.

You need to either be wearing a tiara or have a talisman corresponding to the altar you are entering to make your runes Talismans, Tiaras, and Altars Each rune type has a specific altar in which you can transform your essence into runes. To enter the altar, you need to have the corresponding talisman in your inventory or be wearing the corresponding tiara. Ex. If you are going into the fire altar, you would need to have the fire tiara or fire talisman. Talismans take up 1 inventory space, but tiaras are worn, so they give you room to hold 1 more essence.

Pouches

Pouches are items dropped by abyssal guardians, leeches, and walkers. The best way to obtain them is by using a dwarf cannon where there are less walkers. Pouches degrade and can hold less essence but can be repaired for free by dark mages, in the abyss. Giant pouches hold 12 essence, large hold 9, medium hold 6, and small hold 3. Having all the pouches enables one to hold about twice as much essence as normal. They have runecrafting level requirements to use, but having all of them in an essential, once you are ready. 1, 25, 50, 75 are the level requirements from smallest to largest.

Runners

In themed worlds, many people stay inside altars and sell inventories of essence for a sum of money that is much larger than the essence is worth. This is because runecrafters buy the essence and turn it into the runes at the altar.

Runecrafters often also give the runner as much essence as it would take to fill the rest of their inventory in note. The runner unnotes it and comes back. The runecrafter then gives the runner more noted essence and some money. The process repeats.

This is a great way for runecrafters to get experience.

Abyss

An area in the wilderness that allows you to go to all the altars. It is quite dangerous getting through for some. I suggest taking some cheap armour like some dragonhide or something.

1. Buy a bunch of charged amulets of glory.
2. Teleport to edgeville
3. Fill up with as much essence as you can
4. Go straight up from edgeville bank. The journey to the abyss is almost straight up with a little turn east.
5. Go through and enter the altar you want
6. Craft all your essence
7. Glory your way back to Edgeville
8. Repeat 2-7 until you run out of glory charges and either buy more glories or recharge

Note: I suggest wearing a Forinthry bracelet

Nonmember

1-14: You want to be crafting air runes here. It is southwest of the Falador east bank. You want to load up with your rune essence and talisman/tiara and walk/run to the altar. Enter the altar and then convert your rune essence into air runes.

14-99: You want to craft fire runes. It is located in the Al-Kharid desert, south of the mining area. You want to go to the duel arena bank in this run.

NOTE: It is very hard to sell fire runes, and you’ll be continuously losing money making them, but getting the most experience possible. If you are in it for the money, I suggest making air runes.

Member

1-14: You want to be crafting air runes here. It is southwest of the Falador east bank. You want to load up with your rune essence and talisman/tiara and walk/run to the altar. Enter the altar and then convert your rune essence into air runes.

14-35: After crunching a few numbers, I suggest buying 15 dueling rings which is ~12k. 1. Get an inventory full of rune essence and teleport to the dueling arena. Run over to the fire temple and make your fire runes. 2. Teleport to castle wars and dump all your runes and restock on essence. If you think storing runes over and over takes too much time, just withdraw the essence. 3. Repeat

27-44: I suggest crafting cosmic runes. This can only be done, if you have finished the Lost City Quest. Even if you use the abyss, you won’t be able to enter the cosmic altar, unless you finish the Quest. Only go through Zanaris, if you have a good agility. The path to the cosmic altar is very, very long. There are two agility paths: one that needs 46 agility and the other 66. Take your pick with the one that you like best. If you don’t have such nice agility, go through the abyss, as a secondary resort.

35-44: Use the abyss to make chaos runes.

44-99: You can go and make nature runes now and hit the big bucks. 1. Go through the abyss 2. Have nature runners 3. Have a house in Brimhaven you teleport to and go to the altar

54-99: You can go on your merry way, making laws. 1. Go through the abyss, but Entrana does not allow any weapons, so going through the abyss could be a bit dangerous 2. Have runners 3. a. Use ring of dueling to teleport to the Castle War bank b.

Take balloon transport system to entrana using 1 normal log and make sure to not have over 40kg or have any weapons c. Craft runes at altar d. Repeat
