SEHER PRESENTS SOUTH ASIAN BANDS FESTIVAL FROM DECEMBER 11 TO 13 AT PURANA QILA
New Delhi:It's time once again to rock and roll with the most awaited music fest of the year, The South Asian Bands Festival which will be held from December 11, 2009 to December 13, 2009 at Purana Qila from 6:00 p.m. onwards daily. Presented by ICCR and SEHER in collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs, the three-day music festival, now in its third edition, will feature fifteen popular rock bands from across NINE nations of the sub-continent. Apart from Strings (Pakistan), Raghu Dixit Project (Bangalore), Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy (Mumbai) and Who's Your Daddy (Bhutan) who have already been on this stage before in the last two editions; the participating debut rock bands are Pentagram (Mumbai), Avial (Trivandrum), Half Step Down (Delhi), Faridkot (Delhi), Kabul Dreams (Afghanistan), Nagarbaul & James (Bangladesh), Afflatus (Shillong), Fa'thu and The Early Birds (Maldives), Emperor (Myanmar), Paranoid Earthling (Sri Lanka) and 1974 AD (Nepal).
Virendra Gupta, Director General, ICCR says: "The South Asian Bands Festival, which was first held in 2007, has been one of the most popular events in South Asia. It has brought together at one platform, young talented bands from South Asian countries enabling a confluence of ideas. Enthusiastic response to the bands from different South Asian countries has made the ‘Bands Festival' one of the landmark events in New Delhi."
Conceived & designed by Sanjeev Bhargava, Founder, SEHER, he says: "The third South Asian Bands Festival comes to Purana Qila again this year with some of the most prolific bands performing on one stage. Its popularity has grown over the years and it would be a treat for the music lovers of Delhi yet again. In a first-of-its-kind music festival, some of the world's greatest jazz performers will congregate in Delhi in April for a three-day musical extravaganza. Presented by SEHER in collaboration with ICCR, the three day "Delhi Jazz Festival", featuring nine jazz bands from across the globe.
Veteran artist Rameshwar Broota will show over 20 large size recent photographs in a show titled "Open Enclosures" at Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam from February 12, 2011 till February 21. The show will then move to Vadehra Art Gallery in D-178, Okhla Phase I from March 6 till March 31, 2011.
