Try and find a band whose music is versatile that is it is likely to appeal to a lot of different people. For instance heavy rock or acoustic folk will only appeal to a small minority of the audience. Choose something that is appealing to all age groups.

Of course the price the band charge is important. Negotiate a fair price with the band manager. Once it has been agreed get it put down in writing. You will then need to pay a non refundable deposit to secure your contracted date.
