You want a really good timepiece, so make sure you only decide to deal with dealers who have a good reputation. I have an 18k gold locket style watch on whose face in enamel is a beautiful woman and a border of roses. Her hair ornament and earrings are adorned with diamond chips. Inside is engraved: Geneve 1896 along with the picture of what is apparently two awards (round ); 1889 Paris along with the picture of what is apparently two additional awards (round); Prima Patent No.259428; and 10 Rubis Récompenses. I understand this locket was apparently exhibited at expositions in Geneve in 1896 and Paris in 1889 at which it won awards. I would like to confirm this as well as learn more about the piece.
