This Broadway season, a number of people are hoping to get their hands on A Bronx Tale NY Theatre tickets. Not only was this a critically acclaimed major motion picture, but it was also a critical and commercial success off-Broadway. Written and starring Chazz Palminteri, it has garnered rave reviews for its storyline as well as its acting.

An Actor worth His Salt

They say that the real testing ground for any actor is the stage. Without the benefit of edits, touchups and close-ups, it's easy to weed out the strong actors from the ones that just look pretty on the screen. However, the next step up is being able to pull off a one-man show. This isn't easy and is usually only attempted by very seasoned actors. While successfully portraying one character on stage is grueling enough, it takes a lot of talent to portray many characters and still make the play believable enough to follow.

Directed by four-time Tony award winner Jerry Zaks, A Bronx Tale was written by Palminteri, based on a number of incidents that happened while he was growing up in the Bronx in the 1960s. In the play, Palminteri plays an unbelievable range of eighteen different characters, ranging from a handful of gangsters to himself as a young boy. Palminteri proves his worth as an actor, as he even manages to incorporate the signature quirks of each gangster, which includes people with names, like Jojo the Whale, Freddie Coffeecake, and Eddie Mush. While the quirks certainly bring on the laughs, the play also touches on some scenes of brutal violence. A secondary thread in the story is the relationship that Palminteri had with an African American woman. This was another struggle, as he had to deal with the racist attitudes of those around him.

Something Special

Those who are looking for A Bronx Tale NY Theatre tickets already know that this play is one that is special. Palminteri has been very picky about the play and set a number of conditions before he would allow it to be made into a movie. The rights were finally given to Robert Deniro, who agreed to let Palminteri do the role of Sonny and write the screenplay. A Bronx Tale NY Theatre tickets presents the audience with a tale that is devoid of the black and white terms, in which we usually see mafia-based stories. While it is clear that kind of lifestyle is only going to lead to trouble, it's easy for the audience to see why it would have an allure. Especially given the circumstances that Palminteri grows up in, it's easy to understand why a gangster lifestyle would be an attractive option. Palminteri's father is a bus driver, a hard working man and we can see the struggle he has in trying to ensure that his son doesn't make the wrong decision.
