In Britain there are many ways to enjoy the diverse and rich culture including visiting the theatre, museums and historical buildings. In cities all across the country there are many venues and places of significance that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the unique culture of the United Kingdom.
A traditional British night out can involve a visit to the theatre where a visitor can experience a wide variety of performance from cabarets and pantomimes through to full theatrical productions and musicals such as Phantom of the Opera or Jesus Christ, Superstar. Many tourists and visitors to the United Kingdom should visit the world famous West End in London. Many famous productions written by esteemed composers such as Andrew Lloyd Webber and starring famous actors such as Ewan MacGregor are giving their premieres on the West End. Most large towns and cities in Britain have thriving amateur and professional theatres.
Museums are not as widespread as theatres but do offer the culture all the same. There are various large museums in large cities across Britain and the world. One of the largest in Britain is the Natural History Museum in London where free entry means that many people from many different backgrounds have the opportunity to experience the culture on offer.
In a country like Britain with a rich historical heritage there are many buildings of outstanding beauty and workmanship. Many stately homes and country houses from bygone eras such as the Tudor and Georgian periods attract many visitors who can view the building, gardens and contents such as art collections and statues. As well as these homes, building such as churches and cathedrals also draw many visitors from around the globe.
The United Kingdom can also boast many of the world’s finest and most celebrated artists including Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. Many art collectors and artists will display their work at galleries in cities across the country for the general public to view. Britain is also a country renowned for its musical talents. Bands such as the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Oasis all hail from the United Kingdom and have gone on to sell millions of albums across the world, from America to Asia and everywhere in between.
It is becoming even cheaper and easier for people all over the world to experience and encounter other cultures. Plummeting travel expenses such as low cost discount airlines mean that people can travel around the globe to visit museums, theatres, galleries and religious buildings in many areas. Worldwide tours and around the world holidays allow many people to visit sites steeped in culture within a short time span.
Some locations and structures around the world have been designated as World Heritage Centres and are seen to be of huge cultural significance. There are 851 of these sites in various locations around the globe including Albania, Uruguay and Vietnam. These sites include Yellowstone National Park in the USA, The Tower of London in the United Kingdom and the Ancient City of Damascus in the Syrian Arabic Republic.
To sum up, sites of heritage and culture wherever they are in the world allow for everyone who views, experiences and encounters them to gain an insight into the history of a race, religion or state and to learn valuable lessons which can be passed on to future generations.
