What will you do when your boyfriend shows his true colors, after having a mushy affair with you at the beach? Well, this is what happens to Sandy, the lead character of the story. And her lover is Danny Zucko, who is actually a flirtatious guy with the Mr. Popular tag attached to him in high school. Will Sandy leave her lover or continue loving him?

This is “Grease”, a mind blowing musical with a marvelous portrayal of high school teenage love. Love is not the sole them of “Grease.” The story also reflects at how life, at times, pushes us in a catch 22 situation. “Grease” has an unexpected twist in its story, making it all the more exciting. And it’s difficult to talk about the music. It’s so touching, there are hardly any words to explain it!

The scene where Danny and Sandy meet is the most thrilling part of the whole show. When the most popular guy of high school meets a simple next-door girl, you can’t expect the story to run on a simple note. There are bound to be sparks, ringing bells, a lot of wooing over, and smashing numbers that leave you in high spirit!

The rocking songs boom at the theatres and make the audience scream with delight. Some of the passionate numbers include ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Could Do’, and ‘Beauty School Dropout’. And this is not all. The breath taking performances of each character in the show make the whole story come to life!

The people behind such an irresistible music are Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The amazing choreography is the creative talent of
Patricia Birch. When a beautiful love story combines with hit music, you can’t, just can’t watch the show sitting calmly on your seat. You will jump with delight, scream with awe, hum with the tunes, and tap your feet with the songs!

And when you come to know that this is the same show that ran in theatres across Canada for six continuous years, you will rush to get the tickets at this very moment!

Here is another jaw dropping secret of “Grease”: the original show was five hours long! It was cut down to two hours for showing it in New York theatres. The original show had no big star cast either. The actors were amateur with dreams of making it big on Broadway. (Moreover, how they did!) In addition to this, the sets were not an extravagant affair. A humble garage backdrop was the choice.

The biggest wonder is: did Jacobs and Casey ever think that “Grease” would become one of the historical shows on Broadway?
