Ebay is the biggest market place on the Internet. There are millions of items being sold there everyday. As an artist you may be wondering how to sell original art on Ebay and make money or even a living from it. After all there are thousands of artist there listing their art for sale day after day. At any given time there can be tens of thousands of art pieces listed. Some those pieces may not even get seen.
So the question becomes how do you get your art to stand out from the crowd and get it into a buyer’s hands? You can look on Ebay and see that there are popular forms of art that sell very well. Abstract art for instance or Pop Art, even cat art to name a few. You can find listings for these styles of art well into the thousands with more being listed daily. So you may be thinking since these styles are popular and people are buying them I’ll do something in those styles. But because those styles are popular there is a lot of competition and unless you are already well known and have a customer base it’s hard to compete in those styles.
If you want to know how to sell original art on Ebay and make money the answer is you have to be different. You have to do something that a good number of people are looking for, but there is very little competition for. In order to stand out from the crowd you have to stay away from what the crowd is doing. I for instance do surreal art. There is a fairly good amount of people that are looking to buy surreal art, but there is very little competition in that style. When I list an art piece for auction as surrealism, I may be competing with three hundred other pieces on ten pages verses ten thousand pieces on three hundred pages as an abstract listing.
So to be successful as an artist on Ebay you must be different. Stay away from what everybody else is doing no matter how well it may be selling. And above all make sure you are doing high quality artwork. That’s how to sell original art on Ebay and make money.
