“Lion King” is the story of mischievous lion cub, Simba, who lives in the African jungle. He’s destined to succeed his father Musafa’s throne of the king. But, Musafa’s brother, Scar, has other plans. He himself wants to become the king. He, along with a pack of hyenas, plan to kill Musafa and his son. He generates a stampede that takes the life of Musafa. Scar makes Simba feel guilty of his father’s death and advises him to leave the jungle forever, or else, the other lions would kill him. Poor Simba falls in his wicked trap and flees.

On the way, Simba comes across Pumbaa, a wathog, and Timon, a meerkat. They become his best friends and he grows up with them. When he becomes an adult, he happens to meet Nala, his childhood friend, who tells him the truth about Scar and the pathetic condition of his kingdom under his reign. He asks Simba to come back and take over his kingdom. Simba has to make an important decision of his life. Does he come back to fight against Scar?

“Lion King” is a classic Disney movie that has grabbed many awards and enchanted millions of audience by the theme of its story. The stage version of “Lion King” has all the hit songs from the movie such as “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “I Just Cant Wait to Be King,” and the evergreen “Hakuna Matata.” All the characters of the show are adorable. Damien Hirst was upset by the Van Gogh phenomenon where the artist never got to see the recognition of his art by the public or the supplementary monetary benefits his art would have in the future. This introduces the topic of droit de suite, which when translated from French means “the right to follow” otherwise known as the artist resale rights. This means that in future sales of an artwork, the artist is entitled to a percentage, a royalty of the final sale price as long as they’re living.
