An animator uses a digital tablet and digital pen, so that whatever is drawn on the tab automatically appears on the computer screen. Mathematical algorithms are used to program objects and characters so that they adhere to (or break) natural or physical laws such as gravity, force and mass. In this way, the characters and objects will move just like humans, animals and objects in the real world move. But because they can be programmed, they can be designed to have super powers, or practically any type of ability (or disability) that the creator can think of.
Background.
Backgrounds for 3D animation typically have perspective and depth of field, as opposed to two-dimensional animation. More advanced animators use a multi-plane camera to create a parallax effect that produces background depth. To create an ultra-realistic setting, a background/landscape can be filmed according to the storyline complete with real-live actors. The film (or digital) images will be layered over to produce an animated effect. Movement.
To create realistic and seamless movement, 24 frames are usually displayed per second, as in film or in video.
