Posted: Jan 24, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

Traditional canvas art is considered to be the only form of real art by many of the more conservative experts that are out there today. Although traditional art is starting to take a major back seat to modern canvas artists, with a particular emphasis on digital art forms like 2D and 3D graphic arts, that is not to say that it is any less available or has any less of a following. In fact, it is more popular than ever despite the fact that the new technology has hit the media more and more often in recent months. There are still plenty of traditional canvas artists around that you can invest in by purchasing one or more of their works. However, you have to know what categories to find them in first and this article is a quick introduction to the types of traditional canvas artist that comes under this particular heading. Some may surprise you but all are well worth looking into.

Oil and watercolour canvas artists are the obvious traditional canvas artists because we associate traditional art with the watercolours and oil paints of previous centuries. Despite the fact that there have been numerous modern movements in the years since, which has of course suggested that the art world has moved on, that is not to say that canvas artists are not painting with these materials these days. Of course they are! Watercolour paintings by talented artists are absolutely gorgeous and offer a distinct measure of beauty to any bare wall. Oil paintings are of course a little more heavy but rich in detail and can provide fantastic talking points for your home or office. However, you may want to note that oil and watercolour canvas artists do not necessarily paint the dark images that we are used to from past greats.

Landscape canvas artists are also amongst the most popular traditional canvas artists out there. They may also paint with oils and with watercolours but they do tend to specialise in various landscapes from a range of perspectives. As such, these artists have become well known for this particular facet of their work or at least their focus on the natural. Most of these images tend to be of the straightforward variety so there are no hidden messages, no subjective shapes that require interpretation and absolutely nothing cryptic at all. Instead, the canvas artists for this particular traditional category focus on and deliver beauty. The vibrancy is still there but without the need for bright colours. It comes from nature. Traditional Canvas Art provides a very natural appeal to any wall.

Folk canvas artists are also happily included under the umbrella of traditional canvas artists. They offer a completely different perspective of the world to other traditional artists and tend to use unique techniques that immediately identify the art as of folk origin. Folk art is historically indigenous and therefore demonstrates a lower class culture, but one that has a great degree of life nevertheless. It is highly decorative, colourful and full of life. There are all types of folk canvas artists out there though because they can come from anywhere in the world. As such, each fold canvas artist produces art that reflects his or her specific heritage and culture. Some of the pieces are the most beautiful you will ever see and are well worth investing in.

Speaking of specific cultures, heritage and tradition, ethnic canvas artists are also considered to be traditional canvas artists because they also draw on their heritage and their national or tribal roots to convey their own personal identities and cultures. There are numerous ethnic canvas artists out there. The most popular are African canvas artists but you will also find indigenous artists, Asian artists, Caribbean artists and other such groups of artists out there. All of them produce incredible traditional art that draws on the way in which they were raised, the stories that have been passed down and the history that their nations, or indeed continents, have experienced.

As you can see, there are various types of canvas artists still out there. All of those that produce art under the traditional art umbrella can offer something that very few other artists can. They can offer a sample of art that is steeped in history but has a modern feel to it. Modern artists lack the universal appeal that traditional canvas artists still have and for that reason the latter tends to be more popular. As such, you can readily find an artist that you like out there and invest in his or her future and your art collection at the same time. Leonardo went beyond the sexual act portrayed until then about this mythic story. The great popularity of this subject in the sixteenth century was due to the fact that it was then more acceptable to depict a woman having an act of copulation with an animal than with a man.
