Tulika Arts Gallery Showcases "Mood of Light"- 'DOT style' paintings by Ujwal Pandekar

Mumbai, November 2010: Tulika Arts Gallery showcases an exclusive exhibition on "Mood of Light"- 'DOT style' paintings - a unique style of painting put together by the artist Ujwal Pandekar.

The exhibition begins on 16th November - 30th November 2010 from 11 am to 7 pm at Tulika Arts Gallery, Raghuvanshi Mills, Lower Parel.

'Mood of Light' collection of paintings tell you about the expressions on face or object due to effect of light. There is no doubt that object's stillness, gesture, movements and rhythm in light are vivid than that in real.

Note From the Artist:Painting is a spontaneous overflow of expression, emotion and gesture through color on a canvas. Light and its shades plays important role in reflection of gesture and feature of light as well as the perspective aspect created by contrast in the object. Natural source of light produces various shades, reflexes and emboss on the face.

Objects and faces absorbs light and heat and creates qualitative feature in the object or painting and reflects it. Every object's atom has the ability to absorb the light in which it tries to reflect its existence. After feeling the existence I made myself busy in discovering scattered shades in the object. This gave birth to new style of painting ‘DOT'.

I configure realistic picture in one. Realizing light I preferred contrast. Creating independent dot on black background according to the appearance of body and with the help of different shades of color I tried to arrange dots in vertical and horizontal manner to evolve the reference.

I understand different shapes, colors and structures and I tried to fuse all these in my paintings. Objects in paintings always try to unchain the boundaries of black canvas through color intensity and I tried to present unique texture style. I see human face and houses in villages playing hide and seek with light and they always try to come out of the dark circles and try to reestablish themselves.

The 'Dot style' is never been practiced in the realm of Indian paintings. It is a unique style that reflects 'Mood of Light'.

"Leda And The Swan", by Leonardo da Vinci, is one of history's great art losses. From the surviving copies we can see its beauty, the masterly composition, and the complex emblematic symbolism. Leonardo went beyond the sexual act portrayed until then about this mythic story. The great popularity of this subject in the sixteenth century was due to the fact that it was then more acceptable to depict a woman having an act of copulation with an animal than with a man.
