What Are Full Sleeve Tattoos?

Posted: Nov 11, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

Full sleeve tattoo designs are coming into vogue. The term "full sleeve tattoos" refers to the fact that the tattoo covers the entire arm from the shoulder to the wrist. These types of designs get their name from their similarity from covering the arm like a long sleeve shirt, otherwise known as a full sleeve.

The act of getting a tattoo is a pretty bold move considering it's harder to hide and catches the eye pretty easily. Because of the size of this tattoo, make sure that you do some diligent research to make sure that the full sleeve is exactly what you want and the design you're getting is something you'll be happy with permanently. Also, make sure you don't mind people staring at your arm, because with these larger tattoos, you'll get a lot of looks.

So how much will this cost? Well that all depends on the time it'll take to tattoo, the intricacy of the tattoo, colors used, and many other factors. Note that the more detail your tattoo requires, the longer it'll take to finish. Make sure you're comfortable with your tattoo artist and that they'll be able to complete your tattoo in the fashion and quality you desire.

What full sleeve tattoo designs are most popular? Well, you can get any theme you'd like, of course, but the most popular are; tribal, Japanese, flames, and Celtic.

  • Full sleeve tribal tattoos feature dark lines and primarily black color. Originally, these tattoos were designed for protection of tribal warriors going into battle.
  • Flame sleeve tattoo designs are becoming popular with younger tattoo fans as it can make your hand and arm look like a fireball.
  • Japanese sleeve tattoos are a popular choice and generally feature bright colors with intricate details. Many Yakuzas, Japanese gangsters, wear these tattoos.
  • Celtic sleeve tattoo designs are popular and many people use this style to celebrate their heritage and religious beliefs.

Those are just a few options and examples of what is most popular, but like I said before you can pretty much make a sleeve of any theme or style. I've even seen full sleeve tattoos where the wearer got a tattoo that feature cartoon characters or their favorite teams.

"Leda And The Swan", by Leonardo da Vinci, is one of history's great art losses. From the surviving copies we can see its beauty, the masterly composition, and the complex emblematic symbolism. Leonardo went beyond the sexual act portrayed until then about this mythic story. The great popularity of this subject in the sixteenth century was due to the fact that it was then more acceptable to depict a woman having an act of copulation with an animal than with a man.
