Article Marketing – the Real Secret Exposed (2 of 3)

Building your list should be the top priority when article marketing or any kind of marketing for that matter. Sure first time buyers are nice but they are few and far between. The real goal is to turn those first time visitors into subscribers. Once that has been accomplished you may market to them at your leisure.

How to Bring Visitors to your Website.

Guiding highly targeted traffic to your website is the job for your article. Use it to entice the visitor to follow the link to your website.

It is really quite easy.

1.) Headline or Title

A compelling and powerful headline or title is necessary. Arguably your headline is the most important part of your article. It needs to stand out from the multitude of other headlines that a potential reader views. Use power words and phrases to pique the interest of a reader, but always be 100 percent honest never mislead a reader into viewing your article.

2.) Content

Write a short 250 to 400 word article that is interesting and provides quality information for your readers. If you present a problem then make sure that you solve the problem within the article. You can leave a reader wanting more while still providing a complete solution to a problem.

3.) Resource Box

This is the part of an article that I feel that is most under utilized. I have seen many resource boxes that say:

“Click HERE for more information”
“Soandso is the owner of www.urlhere.com”
www.clickhere.com

This kind of resource box is doomed to failure right along with the product or service that they are supposed to be promoting.

When you are creating your resource box use the following as a guideline.

A.) Speak in Third Person

You may think that it sounds weird but take a look at the author notes in a novel by one of your favorite authors. The notes are usually in this perspective. It lends credibility to the author and it will to you as well.
B.) Your Name

Always include your name in the resource box. You want readers to become familiar with you and associate your name with the term” Expert.”

C.) Credentials

Write a few sentences that tell a bit about you and your experience in the market you are writing about. See the resource box for this article as an example.

D.) Incentive

Provide some kind of incentive to entice the reader to your website. (More on that later in this article series.)

E.) Call to Action

Use a phrase that instructs the reader to do something. “Get it Now”, “Visit us at”, and “Stop by” are all examples of a call to action.

F.) A Real URL

Many publishers strip out html code when publishing an article. While using anchors to highlight a word as a link may look great in places where html is allowed, it will give you absolutely no link to your website in places that it is not. Use your real url.

Use great articles to bring your visitors to your website. Once there you can convert them to subscribers fairly easily.
