Outline Your Article for Ease in Writing
When writing an article I have always found that using an outline made it significantly easier for me. Perhaps it will for you as well.
The first thing that I do when creating my outline is start with the topic. After the topic I come up with 4 or 5 (sometimes more) bullet points or sub-headings that I will use to educate my readers.
I use the first paragraph in the article to give a little background about the topic and it is usually 3 to 5 sentences. If the paragraph looks too bulky or difficult to understand I will break it up. Remember, being grammatically correct is not our objective ease of understanding is.
In most of my articles I have second paragraph (or third if I had to break up the first) where I explain something about the topic on which I am writing.
Next I work with the bullet points or sub-headings. Sometimes it is a simple as a one sentence explanation or as complex as one paragraph for each. Keep each bullet point or sub-heading tight and reference only one point.
I have seen many articles that use bullet points but the line between them seems very blurred and they all seem to run into one subject. This left me wondering what I had just read.
Below is an example of how I outlined my article:
Article Marketing - 6 Easy Steps to Understanding
Paragraph 1: Introduction to Article Marketing
Paragraph 2: Continuation of paragraph one (it was too big and bulky)
Paragraph 3: Educational paragraph on the cost of Article Marketing
Bullet point 1: Concept and Creation
Bullet point 2: Article Submission
Bullet point 3: Article Directories
Bullet point 4: How Articles Become Traffic
Bullet point 5: Free Product and Autoresponder
Bullet point 6: Email Marketing Campaign
Closing Paragraph
Use the closing paragraph to summarize the information that you have given throughout the article. A closing paragraph should encourage your reader to put the principles you have discussed with your article into practice.
Always leave a reader with a desire for more information. To satisfy that need you must use your resource box to give them an avenue to obtain the information that they seek.
