Email Marketing - People Like to See Their Name in Print

Email marketing should be a large part of your online business. It's one of the easiest ways to get your information to a targeted group of people, i.e. your list.

But, there are many mistakes that email marketers make that keep their email from being opened and their list from getting the message.

One of the biggest things that an email marketer fails to do is to build a rapport with their list. People generally want to get to know you before they will buy from you. Don't just jump in and try to sell them your product unless you're selling a name-brand product that everyone knows about.

But what if you're selling your own product that you created? Would you buy from an unknown person on the internet without getting more information about them?

Just because you signed up for someone's online mini-class or for some information doesn't mean that you will give them $97 or even $47 for a product until you learn more about their product or service.

So, begin sending email to your list introducing yourself and explaining how your product or service will help them solve their problem. Use their first name in the title and body of the email.

The visitor has already given you his or her name and email address when they signed up for your list -- so use it! People like to see their name in print and will generally feel more friendly towards you and therefore be more receptive to receiving your email.

Continue sending email to your list with good, informative information about your product as well as tips, upcoming sales, etc. You can even include comparisons of your product versus your competition. A good idea is to direct them to a number of articles you have written about your niche or product which will show people on you list that you are an expert in your field.

Ask your readers for feedback. This way you can find out what they actually want from you. If you offer information that they want or need and you do it in a friendly way, you will be developing a working relationship and even a friendship with the people on your list. This should lead to more sales conversions when you begin offering your products to your list.
