Freelance Home Writers - How Much can I Earn?

Posted: Sep 01, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

The first thing you ask when looking at a new job is, How much does it pay? Freelance home writers ask the same question. So how much can you earn as a freelance writer?

Freelance writing is a little different than most jobs which pay on an hourly rate. With writing, you get paid for the work you do. It is not easy to determine exactly how much money you will make, until you actually do it. This is one of the things which stops a lot of talented people branching into freelance writing.

How most successful freelance writers get started is they begin writing on the side, while still working for someone else. This way they are still receiving a weekly income, and can test the waters to see what works and how much money they will make when they go full time. The downside to this is that they are then working two jobs, and have less time for their family. If managed correctly, and you have a plan in place, this time can be made quite short, and the transition to full time freelance writing can be made.

Because there are so many different ways to write and make money online now, it really depends on your strengths, likes and dislikes as to which direction you take.

If you decide to start blogging for a living, you can get paid per blog. You can get paid anywhere from $15/hour to $50/hour, depending on who you write for and how much content you write.

If you decide to write articles for someone else, you can get paid anywhere from $20/hour to $45/hour, depending on how many articles you can produce and what quality the articles are.

Another way to make an income from freelance writing is to work for yourself. This requires more time and more skills to get started, but can produce a far more lucrative income than writing for someone else. Once you have internet marketing skills, and you have established a solid marketing method for visitors to buy a product or service, then you are set to start producing your own content.

I could list any figure here but it would be fairly meaningless to most people. If done correctly, your internet marketing business could generate you anywhere from $50,000/year to many hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Because you will have published content on the internet, it will always be there, and people will always look at it and visit your site and buy the product or service you are promoting.

It depends totally on your circumstances and vision for your future, as to which direction you take to earn your income.

Many freelance home writers join a freelance writer website, which provides training and access to many thousands of jobs and offers. This way you can be producing quality content in a format you know will be accepted an loved by your customers and readers alike. This will make your earnings much higher than if you carried on by yourself.
