Street Articles Review
From being a member and submitting articles to Street Articles for almost a month, I have gained enough insight to sharing my views of this new article directory. I have first learned of Street Articles from logging into my Wealthy Affiliate membership. Street Articles was created by the founders of Wealthy Affiliate, so I thought that I would sign up as I know they produce quality products. So far, it is not too bad, but still feels like it's in the "beta" phase too much.
When you log onto Street Articles it feels like a bunch of boxes of content were just placed on the page. It does not feel like it is as "cozy" as other article directories, such as EzineArticles of ArticlesBase. That is not to say that it is uncomfortable, but the aesthetics do not seem as polished as some of the other directories. The home page includes the newest approved articles, a few authors featured, and the topics of the articles people write. The top of the page has section which says "Word on the Street" that has a few articles; kudos for using a gimmick utilizing the domain name.
The page on which to publish the articles is similar to every other article directory - nothing more, nothing less. I have no complaint, but it doesn't seem like it is revolutionary. You can create a little profile like the other articles directories as well, but not quite as extensively as EzineArticles. I would like for a little more out of the author profile.
Unlike EzineArticles, which seems to give "Expert Author" status to every person when they write an article under a new topic, Street Articles has a required amount of articles written first. Expert status requires "15 articles within any given sub-category, and 30 articles within any given category" to achieve. They also have a "Platinum" status, but that is yet to be implemented. They say that platinum status authors will receive a quicker turnaround time for approval - similar to EzineArticles. For people who make a living off article marketing, that is a huge plus. However, it usually only takes a day or two to get approval right now (that will probably change with more people registering for the website). Street Articles also gives the standard article statistics views, clicks, and keywords associated with the articles.
The articles submitted do not carry the same "page rank power" as an EzineArticle or ArticlesBase submission, yet. It is still early for Street Articles, but do not expect an article to rank on the first page yet. I have had a few that do, but more likely than not, they will be a few pages back. I would imagine with more time, Street Article submissions will look better toward the likes of Google in the coming days. I suppose people who register and use Street Articles now as the early adapters are "buying IPO stock".
From perusing the site, as well as knowing of the founders, many of the articles are directed toward affiliate marketing. Now, this may or may not effect anyone from writing articles, but most people viewing your article are also going to be affiliate marketers who have a lower propensity of clicking your links and viewing your sites from your author resource box. This "problem" will probably go away once Street Articles becomes a bigger player in Article Directories. I have no doubt they will, but another thing to consider when signing up.
My biggest complaint thus far is from lack of execution. They have put the proverbial horse before the carts a few times during the launching of the website. I have received emails regarding rejections of articles with the emails link to non-existing web pages. This would seem to be a problem they will fix, as author guidelines are very important to article marketers. As more and more people register with the site, it will become a problem to not have the guidelines easily listed.
I believe that Street Articles will one day become a serious player with the other Article Directories. Right now they are still adding new features to their website and occasionally have a glitch or two, but nothing too egregious or ongoing. They will usually, in my experience, rank as well as some of the other Article Directory submissions, but in the future one would think they will gain power. As someone in the affiliate marketing game, I would recommend joining them in hopes that the effort will pay off later when the company takes off.
