It is not a secret, that lots of high school students and some college students have some difficulties with essays writings. Let’s think about the reasons of those problems. On the one hand, writing an essay might look difficult because there are no exact standards for writing it. Every essay is a creative work that is why you can’t find an exemplary essay. So, it is OK if you have some doubts about it, but don’t give up, just collect your thoughts together and start working.
Even if it is a creative work, there are some basic recommendations of a good essay writing on the story you have recently read. Being unaware of those recommendations and demands means doing bad work, loosing your time and showing that you haven’t enough experience in writing essays. Let’s analyze these recommendations and understand what our tutors want from a good essay.
Speaking about the mistakes, it is clear that any essay should not have them. Grammar, punctuation and spelling should be checked and sometimes double checked. While doing so, you can learn and memorize how to write words correctly and put the commas in the right places. You also can improve your grammar by reading; it said that subconsciously you will learn how to write correctly.
Next thing which is important is the language that you use in your essay writing. It should be vivid, specific, without repetitions. For every theme you need to show a certain lexicon that corresponds to this topic, also try to use some morphological constructions. Once again, you can get such kind of knowledge and experience by reading more. Try to memorize some good expressions and new words, think about synonyms that might be used. Remember, the more you read, the more experienced you will get.
Try to follow one essay writing style from the very beginning. A whole impression on your essay can easily be messed up by using one wrong fraise. Usually it is easy to find such fraises by proofreading your essay one more time and changing fraise, or a sentence into more appropriate one.
One of the most important things you have to pay attention to is logic. Logic, is what makes an easygoing essay, every next sentence somehow continues the idea of the previous one. A common essay is logically built – you have one idea or a theme, and you are continuing to develop it through the whole essay. You should develop it slowly, without unclear interruptions or jumps. From time to time, it is better to summarize part of your essay and write a small conclusion. It helps the reader to understand your thoughts better and to evaluate them.
If you are using some facts in your essay, or make some references about the events that took place, then it is better to do it in a chronological order. Speaking about the facts, do not write them if you are not quite sure; show that you completely understand what you are writing about. To obtain this you should make a research work on your theme, write down some interesting facts, think over them and present them on a high level. You can get positive feedback from your readers, if he or she will find out something new in your essay, they never knew before. It would give you only a benefit.
