Economic Woes Impacts The Distributor

How to bypass your competition during a slowing economy

Success = Reachable

Master System, Inc.

Lately the news has continuously tidal waved negative information into our world. As business owners, it’s the last thing you want to hear. You watch the stocks as if it were your lottery numbers. You anticipate a good week now versus a good month. Do not fret! There may be some lean months and cold winters, but there is always your inner strength to move past the negativity. After speaking with many other business owners I’ve found that many are doing pretty much the same thing, being proactive. Preparing themselves for the future regardless of today’s market conditions. Instead of looking outside to increase sales, look within your organization to profit immediately.

In this article we will be discussing the reporting tools in OMS to assist you in futures and predictive purchasing from your manufacturers/distributors. Being ahead of the game has never hurt anyone’s business, it helps tremendously. Real business, real success, comes from being strategic, from long-term thinking, from understanding how your industry works and where it's going and making sure you can get there first and better than any of your competitors.

7 Ways to Grow Your Business

1. Focus on a single product or service, and then market it, sell it, promote it-do everything you can to increase sales of that one product or service.

If you can identify what your best selling product is, why not offer it to others who buy similar products. Use the Customer File and run a report.

2. Expand your product line to offer complementary products or services.

Once you've hit on a product or service that customers really like, don't miss the opportunity to bring out related items to diversify your product line. Offer “kitting” or component selling. Not only does that give your customers a wider selection, but it also makes your products more appealing to retailers who typically like to stock a line of products as opposed to a single item. This can be done in OMS by using the Component items.

3. Find ways to increase sales to your existing customers.

It's a lot cheaper than finding new ones. Even if you can't expand your product line, you can boost revenues by selling more of your existing product or service to the clients you already have. One easy way to do this is through volume discounts. Especially if your products cost little to produce, offering your customers the chance to buy, say, two T-shirts for the price of one lets you ring up additional sales without sacrificing much profit. Another common practice is to reward loyal customers by giving them a punch card that entitles them to a free product or service for every 10 items they buy. This technique is common at hair salons, car washes and arts-and-crafts stores, but Wholesaler businesses can use it, too.

4. Utilize the capabilities of your system.

Did you know that OMS has the ability to cut costs? Absolutely! If you are seeking to cut back on data entry or erroneous errors in your system, then OMS assists you in preventing those small and mindful mistakes. Let OMS take your web orders and make you available 24 hours 7 days a week! See #5 about using e-Master for OMS Wholesalers

5. Create a Web site to advertise your company or sell products online.

Thanks to the Internet, it's no longer necessary to open a store to reach retail customers. a Web-based solution such as e-Master lets you reach millions of retailers and buyers around the world without paying for rent, utilities or garbage collection. It’s a great way to cut costs by allowing this online system take orders for you instead of hiring a customer service representative to take orders. Figure the cost of an employee’s salary and insurance costs. What would that run you? 35,000 to $45,000? Imagine wiping that liability away and have it work for you 24 hours a day.

7. Expand to another location.

That could mean renting "virtual" office space in a business center or by sharing office space with another growing business. OMS allows you to have multiple warehouses or multiple divisions. Keep track of your inventory in real-time in different locations! Do you do drop shipping? OMS allows you to create temporary virtual warehouses to keep track of what will come in and leave the same day.

Find out more about what other features and functionalities OMS contains that will assist you in growing your business today!

Response to: The Golden Age of Digital Marketing - 23 July 2008
By: Ray | 25-07-2008
89N The Golden Age of Digital Marketing - 23 July 2008 It was with much interest that I read the report on the Netimperative Directors? Dinner discussing the golden age of digital marketing. I completely agree that the marketing profession faces many challenges in its ambition to be taken seriously at the highest levels of business. As the various speakers highlighted, one of the key challenges is the perception of what marketing is. Recent research carried out for The Chartered Institute of Marketing by Ipsos MORI revealed that 73 per cent of working marketers surveyed believed there was a large gap between the reality of what marketing does and how it is seen by other parts of the business. Until marketing is recognised as a key driver of value in organisations, it will struggle to gain the respect of other professional business colleagues. However, marketing must earn that respect. As highlighted by several speakers, marketers must reach out to colleagues in other functions and those at a senior level, and communicate clearly with them the value they create for the organisation, in terms they understand ? which in boardrooms is predominantly financial. The Institute continues to promote the profession and attempt to change attitudes towards marketing in the wider business community. It has established links with various government departments to promote professional marketing, and has developed professional marketing standards that employers can benchmark their employees against. The drive towards proper recognition and respect for the vital role marketing has to play in today?s organisations has to start with greater accountability and clearly demonstrating the value marketers create. I am in no doubt that digital marketing, with its greater measurability, will be in the vanguard of marketers? increasing acceptance at the top table. Small Scale Affiliate Marketing
By: Shikina | 22-07-2008
I'm looking to establish a direct affiliate relationship between myself (the affiliate) and one specific retailer that I deal with regularly. They're not looking for any other affiliates other than myself, but I need this to be a software-based solution. Anybody know of any generic code out there that I could modify and pass off to the partner? Are there any other solutions that don't involve paying huge upfront costs, or a recurring commission to a 3rd party network? Your help is greatly appreciated!
