Scam Alert. Don't get ripped off by company logo designers!

Okay, lets get to the point. You have probably been searching the internet for some time now looking for a logo designer to produce the perfect logo for your company at a price that you can afford. You are also probably a little dazed and confused about the whole process and why there is such a disparity in logo design prices.
The truth is that the logo design business is a multi billion dollar industry. Many design companies have identfied this as a lucrative area of business. Every year an increasing number of online logo design companies crop up then disappear at an alarming rate. Many of these online logo companies are simply out there to make a quick buck.
So how can you tell the difference between a good logo design company and a suspicious one? The answer is surpisignly simple, just follow the following five tips:
1) Avoid logo design packages under $250 It is simply not possible to have a qualified logo designer work on a design for any less. It takes at least 3 hours to design a logo including reading the brief, market research and conceptual development. Given that the average logo design company has an hourly rate of $100, it just does not add up.
2) Be wary of MONEY BACK guarantees... be very very wary! Money Back Guarantees sound great but should never have been introduced into the logo design market place. Leave them for the Ab King Pro infomercials! Most companies that offer these guarantees rely on the customer finding it too inconvenient to request their money back. There are two main reasons for this:
a) The amount is so small that it's just not worth the effort, and
b) The company offering the guarantee will make the process so painful that the customer is likely to give up. To me, it seems that logo design companies that offer money back guarantees are simply not confident that they can provide what their customer needs and use the guarantee as an easy way out.
3) There is no such thing as unlimited revisions. I am so surprised to still see companies using this blatant tactic that is really misleading advertising. Consider what is involved in 'unlimited revisions', and whether a company would actually be prepared to do an unlimited number of revisions to your logo design at their own expense? Read their terms and conditions carefully. You will almost always find a clause in the terms which makes the claim 'unlimited' moot.
4) Get a logo in 24 hours. Really, how serious are you about your business? Don't you want a designer who is equally committed to putting in the time and effort to create the right logo for you, rather than slapping something generic together in the shortest possible timeframe? If you truly feel that you need your logo in 24 hours or less, I would suggest rethinking your valuation of yourself and your business.
