![]() Anthony Wright - ArticlesMy ancestors fled to the United States during the American Civil War from Province Poznan, Prussia and moved to Nevada shortly after. They had to have left horrible conditions in order to enter a country in the throes of a bloody civil war. Nevada's state motto is "Battle Born" because it was made a state by President Lincoln in order for him to have enough senatorial votes to start the Civil War and dictate war policy.
My family settled in Nevada's North-Eastern part, in Elko County, but my father eventually moved South in the late 1960s, and lived in Henderson and Las Vegas. I grew up with the city and have witnessed the good and the bad that people and towns must endure in order to engender wisdom. I graduated from all of my schooling, 20 years, in Nevada and am often reminded that I am a part of a small number of life-long residents, however I think this is changing as people move here to stay. I love helping people and it upsets me when I cannot. Knowing and using the law to ensure people are treated justly is a calling that came to me one day when I had hiked to the top of Frenchman Mountain, overlooking Las Vegas, and realized that none of what I saw below could exist without law and order. I then applied for and was accepted into law school and studied the areas of law that I thought had the greatest impact on lives, including family law, property law, and criminal law.
