I got a puppy..German Shepherd/Husky mix. He's 15 wks old and every time my husband sits down the dog starts nipping all over my h.'s jeans, PJ's, shoes etc. How do we end this constant nipping?

Puppies are very oral. That is to say they like to chew on things. This is a natural part of their maturation. I would recommend that you put hose items that are not appropriate for your puppy to chew on out of his reach. When he tugs on clothing someone is wearing ignore him. Just don't pay any attention to him at all. Then when he stops immediately reward him with a toy or a treat whichever he is most motivated by.

Should we confront our neighbors if we think they are abusing their family pet?
A:As a former Animal Services Officer I would advise you not to confront them directly. The appropriate avenue is to advise your animal services department of the information you have. If you have evidence of your concerns photos, video written statements etc. try to provide them with as much information as possible in order to allow them to conduct an investigation.

What are some good pets for kids ?
A:Wow seems like a simple question doesn't it? Unfortunately it requires more information in order to help you choose the appropriate pet for you and your children. What type of pets are they interested in? What type of pets are you interested in? What is the age of your children? Who will care for the pets? What type of home do you live in? just to name a few.

A:I agree with both Dee and Karen. Dog behavior is multi-faceted and one has to understand the dynamics of your situation in order to advise as to how to best approach the correction. As Karen mentioned always supervise them when you are home and separate them when you are not home.
My ten year old cocker spaniel has now gone blind through cataracts, is it a good idea to introduce a puppy at this stage to act like a seeing dog for him?
A:I would not recommend bringing in another dog at this point. It will take some time for your current companion to get used to his new circumstance. Weather bringing in a new dog later is appropriate would depend largely on your current dogs temperament and ability to cope with his circumstance.
