When fresh tomatoes are abundant this summer - and we have consumed all we can in salads, on sandwiches, grilled and in salsas before their beauty fades - we will long to make tomato paste.

When a recipe calls for tomato paste, there are a few things that a cook can use as a substitute. Tomato paste and tomato ketchup can be used as a tomato paste substitute, although they have a little thinner consistency. Stewed or chopped tomatoes can be used as well, and these will give the finished dish a chunkier texture. If a cook is looking for a tomato paste substitute because of an intolerance to tomatoes, crushed red peppers may suffice.

Two embodiments of a push in fitting converter are disclosed. Each includes a nut, a tube gripping member such as a collet or ring, an O-ring, and a sealing retainer. In one embodiment, the interior of the nut includes a threaded portion at one end, a cylindrical seal seat, and a smaller diameter end cylindrical portion, with an internal shoulder between the threaded portion and the seal seat. There are tons of cable ties available on the market today, but one of the most useful varieties are nylon cable ties.
