I use webcam chat quite a bit. It's a great way to keep in touch with friends and an even better way to meet new people. My only complaint is that there is a certain touch of randomness to the random chat concept that shouldn't be random at all, and that's the quality.
Web cam chat isn't exactly new. People have been doing it for quite some time now, but only recently have we been finding new ways to make things easier and more convenient for those who are new to the game.
I suppose it's safe to say that almost everyone who uses the internet consistently has tried using webcam chat rooms at least once (if you haven't, then you should give it a shot!). Ideally, we like to assume that we're allowed to use such communication channels for free without hassle, yet for some odd reason we continue to cater to the selfish companies that charge money for it.
If somebody mentioned video chat to you several years ago, you would either think of it as a miraculous pain in the butt that had fantastic benefits if you were willing to bother with it, or you wouldn't know of it at all. Today, webcam chat isn't necessarily hard to do by any means and the time it takes to engage with someone in a face to face conversation over the internet has been drastically lowered over the years.
Gone are the days when geography used to create gaps in communication - leaving your friends and family feeling so isolated.
Webcams and video chat are staples of the communication revolution that has stricken society since the internet was publicly embraced. As time has gone by, we've seen the barriers of mail delivery times and telephone distance fees disappear for a new, textual communication form that's taken the world by storm.
Internet-based video chat is one of the hotter new technologies that's taken hold in the last few years. It's been a long time coming, but for a long time, web page technology couldn't support complex things beyond embedded videos and simple Flash games and the like.
Video chat has for the last decade or so been one of the main selling features of various services and devices. Which device or service this pertains to has changed over time, as the technology became possible for more things to do.
We're all used to being regaled by now outdated future predictions from the likes of Jules Verne. H.G. Wells, and the like. This trend kept right on moving, in motion pictures, comic books, television and other mediums and still goes on today. Many amazing futuristic technologies that were predicted actually came true.
It's easier than you think to meet new people by using video chat. Thanks to all of the progress we've made with social networking, keeping in touch with friends and family members through the Internet is second nature. However, it can sometimes be challenging to meet new people on sites like Facebook and Twitter because everything is so impersonal.
