Cindy L. Herb - Articles

On July 31, 1966 at the tender age of nine, Cindy L. Herb was raped by a stranger while throwing papers for a local newspaper. Because of that trauma, and the reactions of shame and guilt by others, Cindy L. Herb felt isolated and alone. She now, as a healed rape survivor, is an inspirational author and speaker who passionately advocates a way to overcome obstacles and understand adverse events that may have occurred in people\'s lives.

The author wrote the book, Awakening the Spirit: The Open Wide Like a Floozy Chronicles as a result of her personal discoveries, in the hopes of inspiring others and to show that, despite adversity, there is always a way to overcome life’s tribulations along the path to finding true happiness and joy.

Cindy L. Herb’s approach is unique in that it offers a different spin on spirituality—one that enhances western religious philosophies while offering an alternative way to look at healing.

Upon reading her book, you will come to realize that guilt, shame and anger are a function of the mind, not the spirit, and simple adjustments in thinking can dissolve these emotions. Tragic events occur not because God is punishing us, but rather as an individual challenge to allow the spirit of God to flourish in each and every one of us.

She provides a plan on how to end pain, and a deep understanding that you are never alone.

Cindy L. Herb has enjoyed an extensive career in the corporate environment, developing associates to perform at their highest potential through training, motivation, and encouragement. The author/speaker’s expertise is supported by a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Methodist University (SMU), Dallas, TX. In addition, Cindy L. Herb has first-hand experience of healing from many life-changing events, including:

1. a childhood rape at age 9;
2. the inappropriate sexual contact from her alcoholic father;
3. being stalked and pursued by sexual predators;
4. growing up in a dysfunctional family;
5. a near-death experience;
6. being mugged at gunpoint;
