Palm Sunday is celebrated every year throughout Kerala that falls in the month of April. Palm Sunday is otherwise known as Osana Njayarazhcha or Kuruthola Perunnal in Malayalam. Palm Sunday is celebrated in preparation to the Holy Week. On this day, people go in procession around the church premises or through the streets holding tender palm leaves. The faithful practices this in remembrance of the day on which Jesus Christ’s victorious entry into the city of Jerusalem.

Likewise Christmas, Easter is another festival celebrated by Christians in Kerala and the whole of India. Christians celebrate Easter in remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ who died for humanity in the cross on Good Friday. It usually falls on the month of April.

Kerala Boat Race is a festival occasion at rivers and backwaters of Kerala. Boat races Kerala are characterized by color, sweat, high-pitched folk music, excitement and teamwork. A typical snake boat team has 115 to 125 members. There will be 10 to 14 such teams competing. There are several snake boat race events, among them Nehru Trophy Boat race, is the most spectacular one.
