Awarded International Young Investigator Traveling Fellowship Award by the Society of American Gastro-Intestinal Endoscopic Surgeons for the year 2009. This award included $2100(USD) and registration at the annual SAGES conference at Phoenix, Arizona, USA from April 22-25, 2009.
International ASCRS Traveling Fellowship May, 2009
Awarded International Travelling Fellowship by American Society of Colo-Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) for the year 2009. This award included $3000(USD) cash apart from $600(USD) for registration at ASCRS conference at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA from May 2-5,2009 and $855 (USD) for a yearly subscription of the journal "Diseases Colon Rectum".

Anal Fissure is a tear in the anus causing a painful straight ulcer at the lower margin of the anus. The major cause of fissure is constipation, when the passage of a hard dry stool tears the lower anal lining upon defecation. Occasionally diarrhea can also cause fissure due to over use and over-wiping of an inflamed anal canal. Water jet usage in the toilet seat can also cause anal fissures.
Pilonidal disease is the disease occurring in the lower part of the back region. It usually affects young, hairy, plumpy (overweight) males who sweat a lot and have to sit for long hours. It is most common in the age group 15-30 years and rarely has onset after 40 years of age. About 1 % of the population is affected by this disease and males are afflicted about 3 times more commonly than females.
Piles is one of the common disorders affecting 'only' humans. Infact, this is the price humans have to pay for their errect posture. The increase in the vein columns in the anal canal due to errect posture is the basic cause of piles. However, if few precations are taken and with the help of few outpatient procedures, even most of the patients who have already developed hemorrhoids can escape operation or surgery.
