Every other day there is some news about schools computers labs being attacked and while most people are of the general belief that vandalism implies physical damage, it is much more than the physical destruction; including fiddling with the operating system/s and manipulating the critical files/folders, and even causing terminals to ill function as well.

I had had a friend whose G4 Tower was towed away. It was more than a disaster than losing his girl. He lost the data and he had no insurance. He did not have a backup nor did he do anything to see that information in his system did not reach crooks' hands. No wonder it was more than a traumatic experience that my buddy underwent those days.

If you thought that the data in your iMac is safe behind one Windows password or an iMac lock you've got rethink. Because unless you changed the default, anyone can just boot your iMac using a floppy disk or even CD-ROM and wander around your folders and files like a tomb rider.
