Barbados has an abundance of fantastic beaches and as much as I like lazing about on a sun longer, or on a beach blanket I get a little bit bored after about an hour or so. I may be close to 40 years old, but I have no intention of slowing down or allowing myself to slowly waste away.
For me Barbados is a fantastic choice as a holiday destination, in fact I love it so much I chose to get married there last year. It may not be the prettiest Caribbean island, it sure isn't the cheapest island in the Caribbean and the roads aren't the smoothest either
The beautiful Caribbean island of Barbados is an English speaking country, which like many other countries has its own slang. Bajan slang can be a wee bit difficult to understand and as a fairly regular traveller to Barbados, I have been confused on many occasions when talking to locals that use a lot of slang.
Fancy getting married on a tropical paradise island, with white sandy beaches, warm turquoise blue seas, swaying palm trees in the breeze and lush tropical gardens, creating that picturesque back drop to that very special day?
Barbados is a truly beautiful island, which offers you a near perfect holiday location, it is an island unlike no other place in the world. For those that visit, I can assure you, that you will want to return again.
I first came across Harrismith Beach during the summer of 2005 when I paid a visit to Bottom Bay, but unfortunately I never had the opportunity to explore it. It isn't too difficult to find Harrismith Beach, even with the rather dubious maps that you find in Barbados and the lack of decent road signs.
Welcome to The Barbados Blog, a Blog all about life in Barbados through the eyes of me, Garry Wynters, an expat 38 year old Scotsman. I’m a rat race escapee seeking a change of scene and a more laid back sort of lifestyle.
It is the weekend again and it is a real miserable day here in Barbados. It hasn’t stopped raining hard for about 2 hours and I need cheered up real bad.
I may be a lot poorer than I was back home in Scotland when I was working for the boss man, but money isn’t everything and life sure is much easier and more in tune with my character since I started working for myself here in Barbados.
Anybody that lives in Barbados and I suppose any tourist that bothers to travel around the island will have at some point been subjected to the very strange ritual of a Bajan male having an outdoor pee.
