Autism - a Fathers PerspectiveAs the father of a child that has autism, I would say to anyone in a similar situation that the rewards from building a loving and close relationship with your child far outweigh the extra time and effort needed. Getting Started With GoalsProbably the hardest part of setting goals is the first step of actually deciding to take action! The first hurdle facing most people is the incorrect assumption that goals are only for business or sales-minded people. The reality is everyone subconsciously sets goals throughout the day. There are always occasions where something has to be done at a particular time or in a particular place. Simple examples could be getting up at a certain time in order to be at work, or to meet with a friend for a leisure activity. Getting Started With Healthy EatingWith the rise in obesity reaching epidemic proportions in some countries, more and more people are becoming concerned about their diet. Most people want to improve their diet but find this very challenging in today’s hectic, fast-food environment. Uniqueness With AutismRather than “writing off” an autistic child we need to seek ways to recognise and develop the individual talents within their character and to do all that we can in order for them to realise their aims in life. Given time and understanding the autistic child can grow into a loving and truly unique person.
