![]() Ian Hugh Scott - ArticlesOriginally born in Northern Ireland, Ian emigrated to Canada with his parents when a boy. His father was an avid angler and taught Ian from an early age how to fish and instilled in Ian a passion for fly fishing.
Ian may often found on rivers and lakes with a fly rod in hand, accompanied by one or more of his four sons. He has competed in the Canadian Fly Fishing Championships in Ontario and Alberta. Another passion of Ian's is Home Winemaking. He has been enjoying this hobby for many years and makes a variety of wines from wine kits, fruits and berries, and even vegetables such as parsnip, potato and garlic. Maple Wine is also a favorite. He is very happy in a relationship with a beautiful woman, Colleen, who far exceeded any of his dreams or expectations and they both share many interests and activities including exploring the outdoors wearing skis or hiking boots. When not fly fishing, fly tying or working, Ian might be found in his home winery - another passion of Ian's is making a variety of wines while writing about the art and science of wine making. Ian enjoys time with his four sons aged between 20 and 6 years old. His youngest enjoys sitting at the fly tying bench and creating his "creations," some which even catch fish. For almost two decades, Ian worked in the field of Law Enforcement but decided he wanted to be self employed and since 1998, has owned and operated a successful business providing a wide range of services including web development, copy writing, and server management to other businesses.
