Damascus Steel is a forged steel that comes out of the Middle East. It is thought to have been invented around 1100 to 1700. It is amazingly sharp and was said to be able to cut though other swords such as European swords. It is said that they can even cut though rocks. Although the recipe to make real Damascus steel is lost to history.

Ka Bar got its name after a letter that was written to them. It was a very poorly written letter. The author of the letter said how one of there knives saved his life when he was attacked by a bear and his gun was not able to kill it. The only thing that they where able to read was "k a bar" and the knife manufacturer choose to use this as there name.

Bulat steel is a steel alloy. It was made in Russia in medieval times. Bulat's is a Russian word that is means Persian. There is nothing to say that this steel is really Russian. In fact the name suggests that it is Persian. It is thought that Bulat steel is made in the same way that Wootz steel is made.

Leathermans are not really pocket knives or hunting knives Leathermans have a knife in them but they are a set of pliers with many different tool in them. The company Leatherman does make pocket knives and good pocket knives at that but they are mostly known for there multitools, and there Multitools can have up to 20 tools in them.

No doubt losing Pet Kershaw was a big lose to Gerber Legendary Blades. Kershaw knives is now multinational corporation. It is now owned by a Japanese KAI Group.

One of the main characteristics of Wootz steel was a lot of very hard metallic carbides in the steel Precipitating out with bands. Wootz swords and also Damascus swords were well known for there toughness and incredible sharpness.
