Many parents consider troubled teen boot camps when they get mad at their teens for disobeying them or getting into trouble. Many feel guilty afterwards because of the preconceived notions that they have of boot camps. These make troubled teen boot camps seem more like punishment rather than life-changing or life-saving ntervention. Are juvenile boot camps really ineffective? To be honest, boot camp for teens is nothing like the regular boyscout/girlscout or church youth camping retreats.

Young people these days are exposed to a lot of factors that increases the possibility of being in the at-risk category. Drugs, alcohol and other substances are easier to come by. Young people have easier access to vehicles, go to more parties, and connect to a wider social circle through the internet. In other words, there are a lot of opportunities to get together with a bad crowd and lots of time to get into trouble.

Many people know how harsh the environment can be in juvenile boot camps and there are issues surrounding it that give parents pause before they send their children to these camps. Parents want their children to come home "fixed"; compliant, obedient, respectful, and responsible, unlike what they were before.

For most parents who send their children to boot camps, their motivation is to get them to the right path. It's a difficult decision to make, especially since most people already know how rigorous the programs are and how teens are subjected to extreme stress and harsh discipline methods. The point is for teens to learn discipline and become compliant and obedient when they are sent back home, but the possible negative repercussions are quite undeniable.

Many people have a misconception about boarding schools for girls, thanks to how media portrayed these schools in TV series and movies. Most of the time, these schools are portrayed as unfriendly places where bratty young girls gang up on unpopular ones and are only concerned about superficial things. The truth is that boarding schools have come a long way and are actually considered to be a good kind of place to send your kids in.

Many parents are reluctant to consider junior boarding schools because they don't want to send their kids away at an early age. Because of this, there aren't many of such schools to be found in the US, unlike in other countries. These past few years, however, have seen a lot of changes in the way parents look at elementary boarding schools. Children as young as 7 or 8 years old can be sent to one, and sometimes they go home every weekend or on holidays.
