    American Desi

I have been fortunate enough to travel to India to visit my parents' hometown. As a child growing up in a community where my family was the only Indian family, I was not proud of being Indian, "Dirty Desi" was my nickname for most of elementary school. The rest of the students would make fun of the food my mom packed for lunch, usually traditional Indian curries that my mom would make from curry powders that were sent to us by our relatives in India. A Taste of Chinese Culture

This evening I decided to go try a new Chinese restaurant. My problem with Chinese restaurants in America is that the food is always bland and that it does not taste like the food Chinese people eat. Hispanic and Latin Heritage

When I was a kid growing up in a Hispanic household, my parents would always tell me stories about their town in Mexico. Their town they said had many stories about wizards and witches passed down from generation to generation. There were cautionary tales about how witches hid in the cornfields since the first Latin settlers arrived and scared children who played hide and go seek in the fields. Modern Warfare In The News

The is a general lack of coverage of wars today. Some may claim it is because the same people who profit from the wars (construction companies, other contractors), control or influence the companies that own the media. Whether this is true, or not I do not know, though it is certainly possible. What is obvious is certain news organizations have biases towards certain political parties. For example Fox news is was more biased towards the Republican candidate in the 2008 election. Read: Modern Warfare In The News Read
