Traditionally many radio workers would start off at local radio stations and work their way up to national stations but the rise of Internet-based and digital radio stations has seen many radio workers begin their career at relatively new stations.
While the print-based media has suffered perhaps more than any other area of the media as a result of the rise of satellite television and the Internet there are still numerous positions available to aspiring journalists either with professional websites or with a newspaper or magazine.
There are numerous jobs available in the media and while many aspire to work in front of the cameras or to write for a prestigious newspaper there are many jobs available behind the scenes of many media productions that offer an attractive wage combined with a sense of artistic fulfilment.
