A:Hi Dharmenda,
There are a number of factors affecting the EURUSD exchange rate. Exchange rates vary as social, political, economic and other external factors impact on the individual currency. The euro and dollar are the two most heavily transacted currencies in the world. The euro is the currency most widely in circulation globally.

Current trends have related to the US policy of Quantitative Easing and the debt crisis in the eurozone.

What is quantitative easing …? Is it simply printing dollars and pumping to market?

A:Quantitative Easing is where a central bank electronically creates money and buys up other banks bonds and government bonds. The resulting money from the sales boosts the liquidity of the peripheral banks helping them lend more to private and commercial institutions. The idea is that business and consumers then spend more stimulating growth in the economy.

The money is created electronically and not 'printed' - although it could be. QE is not limited to dollars either. It was performed by the UK (in pounds) and US as a response to low growth following the financial crisis. Other measures to
