Aurangzeb’s Religious Policy: Its Emergence and Impact on Mughal PolityThe main focus of this article is on the policy, which was imposed by Aurangzeb during his reign on Mughal ie. Religious Policy. These kinds of policies were introduced before also but later on lost their existence but as the Aurangzeb took his reign he again brought this policy. Along with this policy there was also Jizyah, which is very important for understanding religious policy. Other kings also introduced Jizyah earlier but same as religious policy this also lost its existence and was again the re-imposed by the Aurangzeb on the people. Religious Policy’s main concern was that of Islam and people who were not belonging to this religion were being charged a tax. And this was the same tax namely Jizyah. Jizyah was taxed on non-muslims. There have been many changes after this many people got converted for escaping and many left with their own religion but used to pay. But there were some exceptions to these taxs, which will be discussed later.
