![]() Lara Galloway - ArticlesAs a mom in business myself, I know how hard it is to create harmony in a mother's life. There are so many things that I love: my husband, my children, my friends, my clients, my work, and
lots of hobbies like hiking, camping, drinking beer and wine with friends, boating, looking at bugs with my kids in the backyard, reading literary fiction, concocting a gourmet meal or a rustic berry tart in the kitchen... I could go on and on. As moms, we sometimes sacrifice our needs, wants and desires for the sake of our children, either putting off things until they're older, or just putting them off altogether. The thing is, I am clear on my priorities, especially the number one: my family. AND I know that I need and deserve all that other stuff to make me a well-rounded, very happy person. When I first became a mom six years ago, I lost sight of that last statement for a while. My son was totally the center of my universe, and I started sliding into a scary place where I forgot a lot about who I was other than being Charlie's mom. Well, you can imagine, "Charlie's Mom" wasn't too happy a gal, despite the fact that she was a dedicated mother. My experiences as a mom and an entrepreneur have been some of the most challenging and rewarding of my life. I am grateful to have learned to allow myself to be all the different things that I was before I had kids (sister, daughter, wife, friend, colleague, businesswoman, silly girl laughing at funny movies and crying over sad songs). Adding to that amazing mix, I chose to start my own coaching practice three years ago. Nothing I knew from my years in academia and Corporate America prepared me for being a Coach, an entrepreneur and a mom, all at the same time. I am passionate about supporting moms who choose to be in business as a lifestyle choice. I put the essence of who I am into motherhood AND my business. I know that all of myself that I contribute to one gives back more to the other. Challenging? Yes. But totally worth it. Ready to get started?
