Many people who love their country and yearn for a time when good was sought after and evil was to be avoided, swear by commentator Glenn Beck. Yet others who claim the same value system look on him as a shyster looking to make a buck (or a bunch of bucks) off the angst of the American people. Of course there are those who say the same thing about Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.
Human nature has changed little over the years. We have a tendency to put up with all kinds of intrusions and oppressions as long as it doesn't intrude too much on our personal lives and it takes a some effort to change. When Moses went to lead the Children of Israel out of captivity into the promised land, they saw the destruction of Egypt through the various plagues that included turning the Nile River to blood, locusts devouring the crops and the death of every first born. They saw the power
Last night was one of the rare occasions that I watched the local news. This is a great source of information about the robberies, rapes and murders in my home town… and it's kind of depressing since there is not a lot that I can do about most of these personal tragedies. What upset me most, though, was the news feed about the "Christian militia" arrests that took place over the weekend. There was an almost gleeful tone to the story about how the feds took down these religious zealots intent on
To listen to the anointed Barack Hussein Obama and his excessive use of references to "I" and "me" along with his efforts to "radically transform" the country most of us love, you would think that someone died and left him as boss. He and his cohorts have already begun dismantling the protections we thought our constitution had given us. He believes he is justified as his thoughts must be reflecting the will of the people. The people, as in "We the people", are telling him his actions and scheme
This weekend I had the opportunity attend a conference featuring some of the more powerful speakers who left no doubt that our country was founded by strong Christian men on a foundation of Biblical principles. The crowd bought their books and were motivated to go out and change the world… or at least their corner of it. The question that kept running through my mind was, does that motivation carry over into the next work week… or month?
There has been copious speculation about who will arise to oppose Barack Hussein Obama at the end of his first and only term in office. There are almost as many ideas as there are people disgusted with the path of our country. I am looking for something more than an ideal candidate that can win an election. Instead of a politician running for an office, I would suggest we should be looking for a statesman… a leader with a vision and passion.
"You don't blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you're trying to save for college." So goes the wisdom of Barack Hussein Obama as he speaks of frugality in the face of financial distress. This message doesn't quite ring true as it falls from the lips of one whose only known solution to problems is to spend and spend some more of the taxpayers money in a vain attempt to raise a sinking economy.
Not long after we saw the downfall of the pseudoscience of global warming, we are beginning to see cracks in the battle against abstinence only education. The Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine recently published a detailed study showing that the methodology so despised by the the progressive elites and academic aristocracy to actually have the effectiveness they long denied. There is no joy in Mudville… or at UC Berkley.
Now we are hearing from many moderates in the mushy middle that the Republican Party should set aside some of the social issues and concentrate on economic issues where “everyone” can agree. I have mixed feelings about this message. On one hand we have the hypocrisy displayed by those pushing this view point as we have seen precious little economic common sense from those who want to elevate that to the top of Republican agenda. On the other, there is an element of truth to the position... bu
It must be difficult for Democrats to look through the prism of right and wrong when their dreams of national domination are so close at hand. Some of us are not even sure they could find the prism if they waned to. Minor missteps or major moral failures do not seem to be obstacles when long sought goals are within sight. Despite claims to the contrary, we are in an era when the end justifies the means.
