leanne Joseph - ArticlesSpas and MassagesThe word SPA is derived from the Belgian town of Spa, whose name is known since Roman times when the place was called Aquae Spadanae, which is maybe related to the word “spagere”, meaning to sprinkle, scatter or moisten. Spa is commonly believed to come from the acronym of a Latin phrase “Salus Per Aquam” or “Sanitas Per Aquam”, which means ‘health through water’. Today, Spa is a place people go to relax and enhance the overall body. RelaxationRelaxation means different things to different people. For some it can be sitting down with a good book and for some it can be dancing the night away at a club. Our body goes through wear and tear everyday and we rarely give it a break when it most deserves one. So, make sure you have at least an hour to yourself to do the things you enjoy and give your mind and body a chance to heal. Deep Tissue MassageMassaging is the practice of manipulation of the soft tissue for a physical, psychological or functional purpose. The word massage comes from the French word “massage”, which means ‘friction of kneading’ and even from the Arabic word “massa”, which means ‘to touch, to handle’. In Latin, too, does the origin of the word massage lie, as the Latin word for mass or dough is “massa”. Massage is a relaxing technique used to relax the body muscle and increase blood circulation. Remedial Massage TherapyWe get up in the morning feeling even more tired than when we went to sleep. This is a sure sign that your body, even though it had its eight hour repair sleep, it is still not healing. This could be because of many reasons; stress, bad sleeping habits, you are over worked, fatigue, ailments, etc. Relaxation, de-stressing, exercise and being happy are remedies everyone should adopt into their lifestyle.
