The Rwenzori Mountain is one of Africa's tallest mountain range which is exceeded in altitude only by the free-standing Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro. The Rwenzori Mountain has 6 major peaks namely, Mt Stanley (5,109m), Mt Speke (4,890m) Mt Baker (4,843m), Mt Emin (4,798m), Mt Gessi (4,715m) and Mt Luigi di Savoia (4,627m). The highest peak is on the Mt Stanley and is called Margherita peak (5,109) and it is this peak which makes the Rwenzori Mountains the 3rd highest range in Africa.
Mountain Elgon National Park is one of Uganda's interesting parks for Mountain climbing or Mountaineering. It is a massive solitary volcanic mountain found on the border of eastern Uganda and western Kenya. This extinct volcano is one of Uganda's oldest physical features and has been a regional landmark for a long time.
Mgahinga National Park was gazetted in 1991 and it includes parts of Muhavura, Mgahinga and Sabinyo Volcanic Mountains. The summit of Muhavura has a small crater lake and forms the highest point (4127m) in the park. The summit areas are dominated by wart and dwarf heath vegetation. It is another National Park where the famous Gorilla tracking activity is carried out.
Semuliki National park is located in the extreme western corner of Uganda in Bundibugyo district. It lies along the Uganda/Democratic Republic of Congo border with in the East African Rift Valley. The Park is largely forested and presents the easternmost limit of the great lturi forest of the Congo basin and contains numerous species associated with Central rather than Eastern Africa.
